TLA Generator

The TLA Generator Software import CT or MRI scanned two Dimensional slice data and creates 3D models that are saved as TLA files. TLA files contain both the 3D model created by the TLA Generator software as well as the CT slice data in a compressed form. The 3D Model can also be sent to the Clinician for viewing on another TLA program – TLA Viewer that requires less computing power. This 3D image data can also be transmitted by network or broadband connection.

The aim has been to develop a system that is easy to use and offers more functionality and interactivity for education, training and diagnosis within the 3d medical imaging arena.

    It allows for individual control of creating separated segments, or automatic functions for best guess segmentation and permits separation of component parts of the object and can delete parts of the objects as well as accurately measure distances and angles. There are two versions:

    1. The Radiology Suite allows network reading capability, archiving, report creation and export option to maximize workflow capability within a PACS or general radiology environment.
    2. A desktop version is available for the clinician to perform additional post processing of the object, but with limited import capability, and report generation or modification functionality.

    TLA Viewer

    The viewer reads the .tla files created by the TLA Generator software and saves them to standard .jpg file format, or prints report. It can hide (previously segmented) objects or segments, and colour objects or segments. It can run on most standard desktop computers, and has a simple and intuitive interface.

    TLA Animator / Templator – VPOPS

    The TLA Animator generates animation files by reading in .tla files with options to:

    • Move individual segments of a 3D image file such as for a trial fracture reduction,
    • Import sequential positions of a joint to create an animation to demonstrate motion, or
    • Import the anatomical file plus a virtual prosthesis to trial a joint replacement.

    TLA VPOPS – (TLA- Virtual Pre-Operative Procedure Simulation) is a virtual planning and diagnostic tool that allows the user to manipulate the 3D anatomical model, import 3D models of surgical implants and prostheses, plan a surgical procedure and then save to a TLA movie animation (TLM file), exportable video file or a series of screen captures.

    TLA-VPOPS brings together:

    • TLA Animator – to allow real time 3D model manipulation
    • TLA Generator (Lite version) – to allow additional segmentation and modification of the 3D TLA model
    • TLA TLT files – A repository of 3D mesh files of implants and prostheses that are in a secure sharing format that can only be opened and viewed in the TLA Animator. They cannot beexported as mesh files, or read in any other program. This protects the valuable implant and prosthesis 3D data.
    • TLA -VPOPS is not able to create a 3D TLA model from CT scan data or STL files. This can only be done by the full version TLA Generator.
      The TLA files for virtual surgical planning are generally provided by the Radiologist who performed the original CT scans, or can be created by the full TLA Generator.
    • TLA programs will work in an Apple/Mac environment by installing Parallels program and the Window OS.
    Both the objects and the virtual camera can by moved in 3D space. This technology allows virtual surgery, arthroplasty templating and multiple joint position motion simulation.
